The Area
The central Oregon coast has everything needed for a romantic escape or just to get away for fun and
relaxation. There are friendly communities with shopping, entertainment and fun nearby. To the north
are Newport, Toledo (7 miles inland), Gleneden Beach, Salashan, Depot Bay and Lincoln City. To the
south: Seal Rock, Waldport, Yachats and Florence. They all are within a few fun, easy miles of each
other. Meanwhile the ocean, with its beautiful beaches, is always in view.

The area is full of wonderful restaurants to suit every palate and plenty of art galleries, antique shops,
boutiques and specialty shops, many along Nye Beach and the historic bay front in Newport. Many
events take place throughout the year at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the Hatfield Marine Science
Center, the Visual Arts Center and at the Performing Arts Center. Schedules are available at the
Newport Chamber of Commerce (newportchamber.org) and the City of Newport web page
(discovernewport.com) (links below).

The Discovery Tours are a great way to whale watch and learn about marine life. In addition, of
course, there's fishing, crabbing, kite flying on the beach, sailing, storm watching and hiking, to
mention only a few. Many other points of interest exist along the coast: lighthouses, the Sea Lion
Caves, the dunes at Florence, wineries and the Chinook Winds casino in north Lincoln City; and inland:
antique shops and Art District (Michael Gibbons and Ivan Kelly studios and others, and the Yaquina
River Museum of Art).

LINKS:
The Beach
Ours is a beautiful, secluded and sandy beach. It is just across the road (about 100 yards) and down a
60 foot embankment. Easier access is a short walk (4 blocks) down the utility road to 148th street. From
there the beach is a level walk across Highway 101 - no embankment to descend. Easiest access is to
drive one mile south to Ona Beach State Park, but that beach is not as secluded as ours.
Activities
We have bicycles (2) you may use. We also have kites you may enjoy taking to the beach. There are
miles and miles of secluded beach to explore (see below). There are also wilderness roads and hiking
trails in the area.
